The Shire Hall is a multi-functional building used for community hires such as parties, wedding receptions and fund-raising events. It is also used as an arts centre with live music, theatre, comedy and cinema.

Vintage and Retro Dance Night.

Why not come and join us for a great night of music and dance which is taking place to raise funds for Howden Vintage Day 2025. We have the fabulous Elderberries who will keep the dance floor full with hits from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s from Rock n Roll to Soul to Ska, so there should be something for everybody. They will be supported by DJ Paddy O’Kaye. Starts at 7.30 pm until late.

The Ragdolls recreate the iconic sound of The Four Seasons.The first part of the show, the boys will take you back to where it all began, performing the classic 50s songs as The Four Seasons once did. Hits included Still Of The Night, Oh Carol, Teenager In Love and Why Do Fools Fall In Love. With slick choreography and the recognisable falsetto this really sets the scene for a great night. Acoustic versions of songs are a highlight in this part of the show which demonstrate the diversity and harmonic sounds as once done by the great band themselves.

After nearly a decade, Ash JD Baker former Angus in "Livewire the AC/DC show" makes his long awaited return to the School uniform. Joining him, former band mate and incredible vocalist Gary John Jenkins will be reprising his role of Bon Scott, Recreating the sound and stage presence of AC/DC in the late 70's. After their stupendous show at the Shire Hall last year Ash informed us that it had been their first ever stand alone gig, you wouldn't have thought it, imagine how good they are now a year on?! Alongside them enters Dave Parker on bass who has held down the thundering low end in AC/DC bands for the last decade. Citing both Cliff and Mark as major influences, he meticulously perfected their tone, musical approach, playing style and attack. Matthew Nixon on rhythm guitar bringing a young Malcolm back to life with aN accurate take on his signature tone and playing style. Alchemy Live- The Music of Dire Straits

Alchemy Live bring to life the classic era of Dire Straits from the early 80s, playing all the hits including Sultans of Swing, Money for Nothing, Tunnel of Love, Brothers In Arms and many more. This show isn't about dressing up in 80s clothes, nor is it a lookalike competition, Alchemy Live are all about faithfully recreating the sound & feel of the music, each song is a re-enactment of a specific performance by the original band. As the name suggests, many of the song versions are taken from the multi platinum selling double live album "Alchemy Live", generally recognised to be one of the best live albums ever recorded. The band also revisit other legendary Dire Straits performances such as Live Aid in 1985 and their final tour in 1992 as featured on the final live album "On the Night" recorded at Arena of Nimes, France.

HAMILTON LOOMIS

“My parents had a fantastic record collection and, when I started writing, I gravitated towards what I’d been listening to all my life. I have a huge reverence for the blues and all it encompasses, but I’ve always been fond of R&B and funky music.” A protégé of Bo Diddley, Loomis met the icon backstage at the age of 16 at Houston’s famed venue Rockefeller’s. Before the night was over, Loomis was onstage playing guitar with the legend. Diddley quickly became friend, mentor, collaborator and supporter, appearing on two of Loomis’ albums and presenting a cherished red guitar that he still plays.
